Rights of SSP Employees Violated: They Claim Workload Increased, Compensation Not
The rights of employees of the National Security Service State Protection, who perform duties at the National Assembly building, are being violated. The working hours of SSP employees have increased, while their compensation has not, as their working hours have been extended following the recent decision of National Assembly President Alen Simonyan.
It should be noted that this decision has enforced a stricter security regime in the Parliament building. Several SSP employees have shared their dissatisfaction with forrights.am under conditions of confidentiality, stating that they have been deprived of their days off as they are forced to attend work nearly every day.
Observations by forrights.am also indicate that these employees are serving daily in the National Assembly, albeit in various sections. For example, some employees, whose names we do not publish in order to protect them from potential retaliation by authorities, mentioned that after providing round-the-clock duty in the Assembly building, they are required to serve in the corridors of the Parliament until the conclusion of the next Assembly session.
It is noteworthy that despite the rollout of bonuses amounting to hundreds of thousands of drams and the quintuple increase in parliamentary “hand expenses,” the authorities have not offered additional compensation to security personnel for the extra work. In private conversations, SSP employees conveyed to forrights.am that they expect fair remuneration for the work they do.
Since August 2, amid concerns for their personal security, members of Prime Minister Pashinyan's team have stationed SSP employees in all corridors of the National Assembly to prevent journalists from reaching their offices and inquiring about the future of Armenia, which is on the brink of disaster.
