Attention, They Are Being Photographed: A Photoshoot of Bezoar Goats in the Armenian Mountains

Bezoar goats, it turns out, love to be photographed. At least, they know how to pose correctly for the camera. The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values published a beautiful photo on their official Facebook page, in which at least seven bezoar goats are visible.

"Attention, they are being photographed," the foundation's staff wrote alongside the image.

The interesting part is that all seven bezoars in the photo seem to be attentively looking at the camera and patiently waiting for the photographer to finish.

It is noted that this group of bezoar goats was photographed by Manuk Manukyan, a ranger at the Caucasian Biodiversity Reserve. The Caucasian Biodiversity Reserve (CBR) is the only privately managed conservation area in the entire South Caucasus. Rich in unique biodiversity, this area is under the management of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values.

The Caucasian Biodiversity Reserve encompasses approximately 10,000 hectares of protected area and is adjacent to the Khosrov Forest State Reserve. The Khosrov Reserve, along with the surrounding areas, plays a key role in South Caucasian biodiversity and rare wildlife, including the Armenian mouflon, Syrian brown bear, bezoar goat, Eurasian griffon, bearded vulture, Caucasian leopard, Caucasian lynx, and Armenian newt.

The reserve also serves as a corridor for these animals. Cameras and four rangers continuously monitor the area.

It is worth noting that the Caucasian subspecies of the bezoar goat is found in the Republic of Armenia. This mountain wild goat belongs to the family of ungulates and is recorded in the Red Book of the Republic of Armenia.
