Bulgaria Accuses Russia of Causing Explosions in Its Armory

Following the Czech Republic, Bulgaria is now accusing Russia of causing explosions in its military facilities. This pertains to four explosions that occurred between 2011 and 2020, according to TASS.

Investigators believe that there is a certain similarity between the four incidents that took place in the ammunition depots, and that the munitions destroyed were meant to be exported to Georgia and Ukraine. All the weapons belonged to arms dealer Emilian Gebrev. The Bulgarian prosecutor's office has indicted six Russian nationals for these explosions.

In response to Sofia's accusations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Bulgarians have decided to "outdo the Czechs" in making unfounded suspicions against Russia, jokingly adding, "It’s good they’re not saying we killed Archduke Ferdinand, but apparently, everything is leading to that,” as he remarked during a press conference.
