VIDEO. "We said, 'Don’t go, you're the only guy,' he replied, 'What about those with families?' – The Path to Immortality
Edgar Sargsyan, a participant in the Second Artsakh War, served in the police forces, and was a sergeant. He was born in 1987 in Ejmiatsin. He served in the military from 2005 to 2007 and joined the police forces in 2013.
In addition to ensuring public safety, Edgar Sargsyan also participated in combat duty in Tavush with the police troops. He was dedicated to his service, warm-hearted, and had a great sense of humor.
In September 2020, when the homeland was in danger, Edgar went to Artsakh with his comrades. From September 29, they were engaged in the defense of Karvachar. They returned to Yerevan for a few days on October 25. When the next group of police troops was set to head to Artsakh, Edgar enlisted once again.
“We said, ‘Don’t go, you’re the only guy, God forbid, what if something happens?’ He responded, ‘Well, if I don’t go, who will? What about those with families? Should I stay here while my friends go to fight? How could I look them in the eye later?’” recounts his comrade Vardan Ghukasyan.
He departed for Artsakh for a second time and participated in the defense of Karvachar for five days. On November 3, he went to Shushi with his unit. They engaged in heavy fights there. Edgar Sargsyan immortalized himself on November 7, near the outskirts of Shushi.
