Georgia Ready to Extend Restrictions for Another 6 Months

The Parliament of Georgia has approved a bill to extend the deadline for amendments to the "Public Health Law" until June 30, 2021. This will grant the government the authority to impose restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic without declaring a state of emergency.

83 deputies voted in favor of the extension. Thus, depending on the situation and necessity, the government is empowered to limit the movement of citizens, regulate their work and economic activities, prohibit the holding of mass social events, and so on.

It should be noted that the amendments were adopted on May 22, following the end of the state of emergency, initially set until July 15. In July, the legislative body extended the amendments until January 1, 2021.
