Clash Between Syunik Residents and Police Occurs
Early in the morning, numerous residents of Syunik gathered at the Shinhuhair intersection, intending to move forward, block the gates of Syunik, and prevent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from entering the region. It is important to note that Pashinyan is scheduled to visit Syunik today to address security issues.
The police have amassed a significant force in the area with buses, preventing citizens from leaving Goris city and organizing the planned protest action. Residents of Goris are protesting that their right to free movement is being violated, stating that they are not committing any illegal acts. One resident expressed, "Should a Prime Minister's movement be controlled by 5-6 police buses? If in a state the Prime Minister cannot move freely, how can he govern? Have you seen the road? I am from Goris; I want to go to Vorotan village, and my life is not guaranteed."
At one point, when the Syunik residents attempted to open the road and proceed, a scuffle and shoving occurred between the police and local residents. Citizens were trying to move up, while the police were not allowing them, which escalated into a struggle. Some citizens began to strike the police officers blocking their path.
The situation initiated when the police were trying to clear the road for an ambulance. Several other vehicles attempted to pass behind the ambulance as well.
