Around 3000 Applications Received for the Renovation of Damaged Houses in Stepanakert

The assessment of damages in Stepanakert caused by artillery shelling from Azerbaijani armed forces is ongoing, with new damages reported as families return. This was announced to Armenpress by Samvel Ghulyan, the Deputy Mayor of Stepanakert, who detailed that the roofs of residential houses and window panes have been damaged.

“Approximately 40-50 houses are completely destroyed and are subject to reconstruction, including 2 multi-apartment buildings. To accommodate those left homeless in Stepanakert, we are renting and providing apartments with state support. In addition, work is underway to repair damaged roofs and windows, after which adequate living conditions will be created for our returning compatriots. According to preliminary data, around 3000 applications have been received through the Ministry of Urban Development’s hotline concerning homes with minor damages (doors, windows, roofs). This number continues to grow as more residents return. Some infrastructure in the capital also still needs restoration. Homeowners returning to their closed apartments find gas leaks caused by damaged gas pipes. Overall, the main gas pipeline has been fully restored. We are also working on resolving the issues of ensuring external lighting in certain areas of Stepanakert,” said the Deputy Mayor.

Regarding assistance to residents who fled from settlements now under Azerbaijani control and are sheltering in Stepanakert, Samvel Ghulyan reported that the city hall is providing them with food, bedding, and electric heaters if necessary.
