Lionel Messi Will Stay at Barcelona
The Argentine forward of Spanish club Barcelona, Lionel Messi, has made a statement announcing that he will remain with the team.
“I was very unhappy and wanted to leave. However, I was not allowed to, so I am staying at the club to avoid legal disputes,” Messi’s words are quoted by the GOAL website.
Previously, media reports indicated that Messi had decided not to leave Barcelona after his father met with club president Josep Bartomeu. The president stated that he would not allow Messi to leave the club without a compensation fee.
The Argentine player likely decided against suing the club and will play for another season, as his contract will expire after this period, allowing him to automatically gain free agent status.
