Car Importers’ Union Protest in Front of Government

Members of the Car Importers’ Union are holding a protest in front of the Government building today, August 14. The reason for their protest is the ban on driving vehicles with Armenian state license plates in Russia.

According to one participant of the protest, there has been no clear explanation or justification regarding this issue; however, this process has been ongoing for a month. “It turns out that all these importers who have brought cars to Armenia and cleared them are now stuck with their vehicles. Citizens of Russia are also protesting the current situation. In Russia, they are not even considering the fact that we are members of the customs union; they are confiscating our cars illegally,” he stated.

The President of the League for the Protection of Drivers, Tigran Hovhannisyan, told reporters that they had a meeting with deputy ministers a month ago. However, when they requested to bring the issue to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's attention for further discussion, they received no response.
