We Are Prepared to Welcome All Lebanese Armenians in Our Homes: President Harutyunyan
On August 10, Artsakh Republic President Araik Harutyunyan convened a working consultation dedicated to the support being provided to the Armenian community in Lebanon.
President Harutyunyan mentioned that a task force has been established to organize and coordinate the material assistance to the Armenian community in Lebanon in the wake of the tragedy that occurred in Beirut, led by the President's Chief Advisor and Special Envoy Rudi Khusnunts.
He reminded that a humanitarian aid flight carrying assistance from the people of Artsakh to Lebanon had already landed at Beirut International Airport yesterday and emphasized that support from the people of Artsakh will be ongoing.
Harutyunyan stated that direct financial aid will also be provided to the Armenian community in Lebanon and called on all residents of Artsakh to actively participate in the upcoming fundraising campaign.
The President announced that, although he had promised days earlier to donate his salary to charitable foundations, this time it would be directed to support Armenians living in Lebanon. He emphasized that financial resources would also be allocated from the government's reserve fund.
He noted that despite the limited capacity of the Republic's housing fund, all measures will be taken to create favorable living and working conditions for all Lebanese Armenians wishing to settle in Artsakh. “I declare that even in the absence of free housing stock, we are ready to accept all Lebanese Armenians and ensure living conditions for them in our homes,” President Araik Harutyunyan emphasized.
