Soldier Arrested on Suspicion of Committing Murder

On March 18, 2020, at approximately 20:30, in the Tavush province, near the village of Berd, a dispute occurred between a group of individuals along the 0.1 kilometer stretch of the inter-village road leading from Artsvaberd to Chorratan.

During this altercation, a contractual serviceman from the Defense Ministry's military unit inflicted fatal injuries on a resident of the Aygedzor community using a sharp object. As a result, the victim died. Additionally, the serviceman intentionally inflicted injuries with the same object on two other residents of the Aygedzor community, leading to bodily harm for those individuals.

This information was reported by the Investigative Committee's Facebook page. An investigation has been initiated by the military investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee's sixth garrison in accordance with the first part of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code, and a pre-investigation check is underway.

The contractual serviceman has been arrested. Necessary investigative and other procedural actions are being carried out to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective examination of the case.
