Commander of Ijevan Military Police Assaulted
The commander of the Ijevan Military Police has been assaulted. Will he be dismissed?
According to NEWS.am sources, a recent incident occurred involving Colonel Mesrop Hovhannisyan, the head of the Ministry of Defense's Ijevan Military Police department. Reports circulating in Ijevan suggest that the colonel, in an intoxicated state, got into a heated argument with a group of local residents, during which he made inappropriate remarks and was subsequently beaten up.
However, the colonel did not seek medical assistance at a hospital, avoiding unnecessary attention to the incident.
Our sources indicate that discussions are currently underway at the Ministry of Defense regarding Hovhannisyan's potential dismissal from his position. The police have stated that they have not received any reports concerning this incident, and the Ministry of Defense declined to comment on the possible dismissal of Hovhannisyan.
It is noteworthy that Mesrop Hovhannisyan has close ties with Acting Police Chief Alexander Agajanyan, which may explain why no official report was made regarding the incident involving the colonel.
