Azerbaijani Man Kills Armenian in Moscow and Flees to His Homeland: Open Letter to Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Prosecutor General
In 2013, the family of Levon Grigoryan, who was killed in Moscow, has addressed an open letter to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office, demanding an investigation and criminal accountability for the Azerbaijani man, Jafarov S.M., who killed the Armenian youth and is now in Azerbaijan, reports Infoteka 24.
The source notes that Levon Grigoryan intervened at the 'Chicago' nightclub to protect two underage girls from three drunk Azerbaijanis who were openly and shamelessly harassing them. After he reprimanded them, a brawl ensued.
During the fight, one of the Azerbaijanis, Jafarov S.M., approached Levon Grigoryan and struck him from behind with a knife, resulting in the young Armenian's death.
According to the source, despite numerous inquiries and demands from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office regarding the criminal case opened for the murder of the Armenian resident of Artsakh, the Azerbaijani authorities halted the criminal proceedings against Jafarov and closed the case.
“The practice of hiding and granting asylum to criminals is common for Baku. One only needs to recall the heroization of Ramil Safarov, who axed the sleeping Armenian soldier Gurgen Margaryan in Hungary. When the Budapest court extradited Safarov to Azerbaijan, he was immediately justified and declared a hero,” the source writes.
