Fire on Urasar-Katnaghbyur Highway Extinguished as Firefighters Battle Flames

On December 21, a large fire broke out in the Lori region. At 18:40, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received an alert regarding a grass fire in the left part of the Urasar-Katnaghbyur highway. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from Lori, the fire was contained by 22:43. Preliminary reports indicate approximately 150 hectares of grassland were burned. Firefighting efforts were paused at 00:35 due to darkness.

The firefighting operations resumed today at 08:45 in the affected area, with multiple teams from the regional rescue service participating. The firefighters, including those on reserve duty, are battling the flames; however, the challenging terrain and strong winds have hindered their efforts. As of 14:00, the photojournalist reports that firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze. Approximately 200 hectares of dry grassland were burned.
