Alert: Cut Natural Christmas Trees Being Sold at Koryun-Abovyan Intersection
Auroranews.am has received an alert that cut natural Christmas trees are being sold near the underpass at the Koryun-Abovyan intersection this morning.
To verify whether this constitutes an environmental violation, we contacted Hakob Karapetyan, the spokesperson for the Yerevan mayor. In our conversation, he stated that such sales are prohibited by law in that part of the city, and the municipality has already reported the issue to the Trade and Services Department under the City Hall.
Karapetyan also mentioned that there are instances where the sale of Christmas trees is legally permitted, but only if the trees have not been cut in Armenia, meaning they are imported from neighboring countries.
The Environmental Inspectorate conducts constant monitoring on these issues, and they will also address this matter,” Karapetyan added.
