The government approved the reform strategy of the State Financial Management System for 2019-2023 and the action plan for the reforms during its session on November 28.

The Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan, who presented the issue, stated that the need to reflect the results of the political changes in Armenia during April-May 2018 at all levels of public administration and to reassess the public financial management system served as the basis for developing the strategy and the program.

According to him, the aim of the strategy is to increase tax-budget discipline, ensure the implementation of relevant tax-budget policies, enhance the predictability of tax-budget policy, and ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public goods.

During the discussion, the Minister of Emergency Situations addressed Tigran Avinyan, who was presiding over the session, saying, “Mr. Avinyan, I also have a suggestion. It’s hot here where we are sitting, I suggest we reduce the heating.”

The suggestion elicited laughter from the Deputy Prime Minister.
