Defense Appeals Decision to Detain Former MP Aleksan Petrosyan
The defense attorney, Mihran Poghosyan, has appealed the court's decision to grant the investigator's request for the detention of former MP and businessman Aleksan Petrosyan as a measure of restraint.
In a conversation with NEWS.am, Mihran Poghosyan stated that he would discuss the grounds for the appeal later, saying, “I will make it public when the court's decision regarding my appeal is released.”
Earlier reports indicated that Petrosyan was detained in connection with a criminal case initiated against former Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunyan. His son, Makar Petrosyan, was also arrested but was released shortly thereafter.
It should be noted that Petrosyan is accused of aiding in money laundering. The Special Investigative Service has not provided any comments regarding the case of Aleksan Petrosyan and his son.
