Marukyan: We Cannot Speak of Threats to Free Speech in Armenia
We cannot speak of threats to free speech in Armenia, judging by the actions of a few citizens. This was stated today by the leader of the LHK, Edmon Marukyan, in response to a question regarding the attack on the «Hayeli» club.
“Those who engage in such activities, being supporters of the Prime Minister or the ruling party, are not doing that party any favors. They are serving a disservice, causing damage to that very force,” said Marukyan.
According to him, even after all this, people have positively reacted and calls have been made online stating that the participants of the demonstration haven’t done enough. Marukyan specifically recalled the Armenian residents of Glendale, who have expressed intentions to take similar actions next time.
“Tomorrow or the day after, we will begin to defend our country from various reports that will state that such events have occurred. Why are we doing this now, just to later heroically fight against those reports?” said Marukyan.
