Astghik Alemian, 109-Year-Old Survivor of the Armenian Genocide, Passes Away in Massachusetts

Astghik Alemian, a 109-year-old survivor of the Armenian Genocide, has passed away in Massachusetts, USA. This is reported by the Armenian Mirror Spectator, noting that Astghik lost her parents and siblings at the age of five, becoming an orphan.

Until she was 12 years old, she lived in an orphanage in Syria, after which her uncle, Karapet, helped her and her sister, Anna, move to the United States.

Since the 1980s, Alemian participated annually in the commemorative events dedicated to the victims of the genocide held at the statehouse.

At the age of 90, Astghik visited Egypt and Syria with her family, revisiting her childhood.

It is noteworthy that just a month ago, Asana Sarkisyan, the last resident saved from the Genocide, passed away in Rosario, Argentina, a day before her 98th birthday.
