Demonstrating a Responsible Approach to the Issue: Environmental Front to the Prime Minister
Today, Prime Minister Pashinyan addressed issues related to Teghut, tailings, earthquakes, and environmentalists on his Facebook page. As a proposed initiative, as well as individual members of the initiative, we have consistently raised concerns about the Teghut issue, and we believe that the relevant environmentalists are also among us. This is stated in a Facebook post by the "Armenian Environmental Front."
“We are glad that Prime Minister Pashinyan finally spoke about the dangers of Teghut; however, we urge him not to turn us into enemies. Instead of debating with us, we ask you to demonstrate a comprehensive professional and responsible approach to the issue. We request to organize Skype consultations with experts hired by the World Bank who studied the state of Armenia's tailings back in 2015-2016, as well as with international engineers hired by 'Valex.'”
Experience shows that such open Skype discussions with the government can have a substantial informing and guiding role for both the government and the public,” the post adds.
