American Medical Association Urges Cessation of E-Cigarette Use
The American Medical Association (AMA) has called for an end to the use of e-cigarettes, according to Voice of America.
In its statement, the AMA noted, "The spread of respiratory diseases related to e-cigarettes in the country reinforces our belief that the use of e-cigarettes and vaping has reached epidemic proportions." The AMA is one of the most prominent and influential organizations of physicians in the U.S.
It has warned that vapers experiencing respiratory issues, chest pain, or severe coughing should seek medical assistance immediately.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also issued a warning to JUUL, the largest producer of e-cigarettes, accusing the company of violating the law by making unfounded claims about the safety of its products.
Vaping has been identified as the cause of 450 recently reported cases of pulmonary disorders in the U.S., resulting in five fatalities.
