35 Types of Perfumes Sold in Georgia Found to Contain Harmful Substances

According to the Georgian website Consumer.com, fragrances sold in the Georgian market have been found to contain a type of chemical element/paraben that is banned in perfumes and cosmetics sold in the EU market. Research has repeatedly demonstrated the negative risks of parabens on the human endocrine, nervous, and immune systems.

Members of a Georgian NGO purchased 35 types of perfumes and cosmetic products from various stores in Tbilisi and sent them to the French Eurofinance laboratory to examine the presence of certain dangerous substances banned in the EU.

The research selected samples from products manufactured in various countries and different brands that are sold in Georgia and accessible to citizens. Georgian NGOs regretfully emphasize that for years they have been urging authorities to pay attention to the safety of perfume and cosmetic consumers, as well as to monitor most consumer products in Georgia, which jeopardizes the health of the country’s population.
