23-Year-Old Young Man in Armenia Sold His Kidney for $20,000
The Organized Crime and Corruption Prevention Department of the Police received operational information regarding a case of kidney sale in the country. This was reported by shamshyan.com.
Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan informs that on September 10, officers from the department invited 23-year-old A. S., a resident of Aragatsotn Province, for questioning. It was revealed that a 32-year-old resident of Artsakh, K. M., sold a kidney for around $20,000 through a person named Levon in January-February 2018.
After this, he was also offered the opportunity to sell his kidney, being informed that there was a buyer willing to pay between $15,000 and $20,000, as well as cover the costs of transportation abroad and surgery in one of the medical centers there.
According to G. Shamshyan's information, the police are taking necessary operational investigative measures to identify the individual known as Levon and to locate both him and K. M.
