Man Beats 28-Year-Old Woman in Presence of Her Husband

The investigation into the criminal case regarding the severe bodily harm caused to a 37-year-old resident of Vanadzor and the beating of a 28-year-old woman has been completed by the Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Charges have been filed against two individuals.

The Investigative Committee reports that a number of circumstances of the incident and its motive have been clarified as a result of investigative and procedural actions conducted during the pre-trial proceedings.

On January 28, 2019, in a parked vehicle near one of the buildings in Vanadzor, a 37-year-old man argued with a 28-year-old woman over household issues, then deliberately pulled the woman's hair and physically assaulted her. The woman's father, born in 1969, witnessed the incident while in the same vehicle. Following verbal insults directed at himself and his daughter by the son-in-law, he became involved in a quarrel inside the vehicle and subsequently, outside the car, struck his son-in-law several times in the face and head with his fists, causing life-threatening injuries.

Based on collected sufficient evidence, charges were filed against the 50-year-old resident of Vanadzor under Article 112, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. The 37-year-old resident was charged under Article 118 of the RA Criminal Code. The preventive measure applied to them is a written undertaking not to leave.

The investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
