Armenians Almost Stop Traveling to Georgia for Heart Surgeries – Arsen Torosyan

The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, announced on his Facebook page that people have almost stopped traveling to Georgia for heart surgeries as the prices for heart stenting continue to drop.

“Today, we already have a price of 800,000 AMD for one medicated stent at the newly opened Best-Life Armenian-Japanese center. In May 2018, we did not have a more affordable price than 1.1 million AMD. Due to the decrease in prices and major state programs, the need to travel to neighboring Georgia for heart surgeries has almost ceased. The expansion of state programs will continue, but please always remember: ‘the best treatment is prevention,’” the minister wrote.

Previously, it was revealed that the Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, signed an order to amend the criteria for the “Stent for Life” program. As a result of these changes, citizens who were previously excluded from the program will now be included as the number of symptoms used to determine a patient’s eligibility has increased.
