Tourist Visits Increased by 12.1 Percent
In the first half of 2019, the Republic of Armenia received a total of 1 million 679 thousand visitors, among whom 770 thousand were tourists. This was stated by Susanna Safaryan, the head of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, during a conversation with journalists.
“Overall, compared to the same period in 2018, the number of visits has increased by 12.3 percent. Tourist visits specifically have increased by 12.1 percent. In 2018, 3.7 million people visited Armenia, of which 1.5 million were tourists. Individuals who are not citizens of the Republic of Armenia are considered tourists,” noted Safaryan. She added that efforts are being made to attract more tourists from European countries to Armenia.
