Facebook to Allow Users to Disable Facial Recognition Technology
The administration of Facebook is planning to soon introduce a feature that will allow all users to prohibit the application of facial recognition technology to their photos on the social network.
According to representatives of the social network, for new users, this feature will initially be disabled by default, in accordance with standard settings. It can be turned on at any time.
Facebook has confirmed that this functionality has been available to some user accounts since the end of 2017, and starting from September 3, it will be rolled out to everyone.
The announcement specifies that there will be other settings related to facial recognition available to all users. These include the possibility for individuals to be automatically notified if someone tags a photo featuring them as their own, as reported by TASS.
