Construction Materials, Bedding Items, Toilets: Citizens Discard These Into Household Waste Bins

The Yerevan City Hall has issued a statement regarding the issue of waste sorting. It states: “Construction materials, bedding items, even toilets. Citizens are discarding these into household waste bins and next to them. The waste collection issue in Yerevan is still in the process of being resolved. The transportation of waste is additionally complicated due to careless behavior.

Although Yerevan has not yet transitioned to waste sorting, there are basic rules that should be strictly followed. ‘City bins are intended only for household waste. Such bulky waste and home appliances cannot be processed by garbage trucks. As a result, city property is damaged, and the municipality incurs losses,’ noted Ararat Khachikyan, head of the communal economy department. One of the main issues is the construction waste left after home renovations, which needs to be transported to the Nubarashen landfill.
