Court Rejects Judge Gagik Heboyan's Bail Request
Defense attorneys for Judge Gagik Heboyan, who is accused of accepting a large bribe, submitted a request to the court today, June 13, to release Heboyan on bail as an alternative measure of restraint. It is noteworthy that Gagik Heboyan was arrested on April 1 of this year.
In an interview with NEWS.am, one of Heboyan's defense attorneys, Armen Antonian, stated that presiding judge Tatevik Grigoryan, upon returning from the consultation room, decided to reject the bail request.
Recall that Gagik Heboyan has been charged with personally demanding and receiving a large bribe on March 6, 2019, while serving as a judge on the general jurisdiction court of Kotayk province, leveraging his position as a leader of a judicial authority responsible for representing state power.
Additionally, lawyer Vahagn Danielyan has been charged with facilitating Heboyan's acceptance of a large bribe by obstructing legal barriers and concealing funds obtained through criminal means.
