Gas Price Illusions Exist for Pashinyan, Says Expert
According to the newspaper '168 Hours', Alexei Martynov, director of the Institute of Contemporary States, a Russian political analyst, stated in an interview that "Pashinyan has illusions regarding gas prices" while discussing Armenian-Russian gas negotiations. He noted that partner relations have always been considered, regardless of the prices proposed by Russia.
"Currently, there are illusions, including those from Pashinyan, that he can sell his commitment by blackmailing our good relations and asking for a discount on gas prices. I want to say that those times are over. Belarus sometimes behaves this way, feeling aggrieved that Russia and Belarus are the closest partner countries, but suddenly gas is not free or not at internal prices, as it was 20 years ago. Today, that is not possible because we are ultimately talking about market relations, and the level of integration and cooperation has already been taken into account in pricing and price formation," he said.
