War Expenses Strain Russia's Budget: Deficit Reaches Trillions of Rubles
Russia has been forced to cut expenditures after funds have been depleted, revealing the growing costs of the war in Ukraine during the April liquidity crisis. This has been reported by sources from Bloomberg.
A strict austerity regime has been established following a warning from Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that funds will not be sufficient to cover all necessary payments on time this month, sources close to the government have indicated.
According to these sources, the federal budget deficit has reached 5.5 trillion rubles (approximately $65.3 billion).
