Unjust Persecution is Being Conducted Against Tsarukyan: Iveta Tonoyan

Recent events have shown that the authorities have crossed all possible "red lines." This was stated by Iveta Tonoyan, the press secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan, during a discussion titled "Armenia 2026: The End of Rights."

"The number one mistake was that we all tried to find elements of logic and a sober approach in the actions and statements of the authorities, but these are hard to find. Recent events indicate that the authorities have crossed all possible red lines on all available platforms," said Tonoyan.

She described the events surrounding the Tsarukyan family as political revenge, asserting that Gagik Tsarukyan is facing political persecution.

According to Tonoyan, when Tsarukyan was detained at 7:16 AM, 30-40 masked agents entered his home. She noted that Tsarukyan had anticipated the arrival of the security forces and had even spoken about it with his mother, asking her not to worry.

The representative of the Prosperous Armenia Party claimed that the processes occurring around the property owned by the Tsarukyan family began with the nationalization of the Electric Networks of Armenia and continued with actions against other companies. She stated that after the processes related to Ararat Cement, prices have increased by 20%, mass layoffs are taking place at the brandy factory, and the Yerevan municipality is unlawfully exploiting someone else's property in the case of Multi Wellness.

Tonoyan indicated that two complaints have already been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights, and the defense team will continue to take steps for the restoration of Gagik Tsarukyan's rights.

"Human rights and dignity need protection every day at the bastion of democracy. This is a tragedy. This hurts the country's reputation, and correcting this will take decades. Foreign investors will not invest in this country," Tonoyan stated.

She also asserted that the authorities are "clearing the field for Turkish and Azerbaijani businessmen."

Iveta Tonoyan announced that the composition of the committee for the defense of Gagik Tsarukyan would be published in the coming days. According to her, the committee will address not only Tsarukyan's defense but also the issues of other individuals who are subjected to political persecution in Armenia.

Tonoyan conveyed that dozens of prominent figures from various fields in Armenia and the diaspora will be included in the committee.
