Government Has Yet to Provide Contacts for Responsible Person on Armenian Prisoners in Baku: Siranush Sahakyan

The Armenian government has not yet provided the contact details for the person responsible for Armenian prisoners held in Baku. This was stated in a conversation with NEWS.am by Siranush Sahakyan, the head of the Center for International and Comparative Law and advocate for Armenian prisoners' rights at the European Court of Human Rights.

According to her, during a previous meeting involving representatives from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the interdepartmental commission dealing with prisoners, hostages, and missing persons, as well as Veronica Zonabend, the wife of Ruben Vardanyan, humanitarian issues regarding Armenian prisoners held in Baku were discussed to ensure constant communication.

Sahakyan clarified that Veronica Zonabend had proposed a deadline by the end of the month to provide the contact details of the responsible individual. “Government representatives had promised to provide this as soon as it is clarified. Up to this point, we have not received it, but we hope that they will respond positively to Ms. Zonabend’s request and manage to clarify and provide the contact details of the responsible person in the meantime,
