The Recent Events Surrounding the Kocharian Family are a Means to Distract Society's Attention: Narek Mantashyan

“What is happening is a means to distract society's attention.” This was stated by Narek Mantashyan, a candidate for MP from the “Armenia” alliance, during a conversation with journalists regarding recent developments.

“You know, these scenes are becoming commonplace. It is impossible to see any legal aspect in all of this. These people have received political orders,” said Mantashyan.

According to him, this was also discussed from the podium of the National Assembly the day before. Mantashyan assessed that the ongoing processes are of a political nature and aim to divert the attention of society.

It is worth noting that the Anti-Corruption Committee has announced that six individuals have been arrested within the framework of a criminal case, including the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, and his son, Sedrak Kocharian.

“Factual data has been received indicating that a person who held the position of the President of Armenia, in preliminary agreement with close associates, used his official position to unlawfully appropriate state property under various fictitious pretexts, acquiring several valuable properties of public and economic significance at significantly lower prices than the market,” states the announcement of the Anti-Corruption Committee.

In addition, searches are being conducted at several companies belonging to the Kocharian family or closely associated with them.
