The US, France, and Britain Execute Secret Operation in Hormuz

France, Great Britain, and the United States have carried out a secret operation in the Strait of Hormuz. This is reported by Intelligence Online.

According to the publication, before the expiration of a 60-day ceasefire between the US and Iran, which ended on August 17, Oman discreetly approached its Western allies for assistance in clearing Iranian-laid underwater mines from its territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz.

The covert operation took place at the beginning of August, involving combat divers from France, Britain, and the United States. No official statements have been made regarding the risky mission.

The publication notes that Oman sought to ensure the safety of its territorial waters in anticipation of a new phase of uncertainty in US-Iranian relations. The cleared route provides Oman and the US with additional opportunities in negotiations with Iran.

After the ceasefire deadline, Tehran reiterated its demand to charge fees for the passage of vessels through the strait, but this has not been enacted as the Omani route has partially become navigable again.

The publication also reports that the French and British sides conducted the operation within the framework of an agreement signed with Oman at the Élysée Palace, which focuses on ensuring navigational safety in the Sultanate's sovereign territorial waters.
