The Number of Foreigners in Armenia is Increasing Sharply: Who are the Leaders – New Data

In Armenia, a total of 10,561 residence permits have been issued to foreigners in the first half of 2026, compared to 6,656 in the same period of 2025 (a 59% increase overall).

This information was shared by the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Republic of Armenia, presenting the statistics of foreigners who have obtained residence status in the first half of 2026.

“8,181 individuals received temporary residence status, among which citizens of Russia, India, and Iran prevailed. Of these, 6,085 received temporary residence status based on employment. The leading applicants for residence based on employment were citizens of Vietnam, Iran, China, and India,” the announcement stated.

It was noted that 2,085 individuals obtained permanent residence status; the leaders among them were citizens of Russia with 1,233 individuals, followed by citizens of Georgia and Iran.

295 individuals received special residence status. This group predominantly consisted of citizens from Syria, Russia, and Iran.

“The overall picture shows that the share of Russian citizens among those who received residence status is significant, especially among those who obtained permanent residence. In the first half of 2026, the total volume of residence permits issued increased by 59% compared to the same period last year. A significant part of this increase can be attributed to the rise in the number of temporary residence permits issued based on employment,” the service reported.
