The 60-day negotiation period between the US and Iran concluded this week without any signs of an impending end to war. Donald Trump is altering his policy towards Iran. US officials have reported that he has instructed key administration officials to cease negotiations with Tehran.

The White House plans to implement an extended 'frozen' confrontation where the main tools of attack will not be missiles and bombs, but rather economically 'suffocating' Iran. Efforts are already underway with the American blockade of Iranian ports, coupled with the protection of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the outcome of Iran-Oman negotiations regarding the control of the Strait of Hormuz remains uncertain. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has stated that an agreement between Iran and Oman could pave the way for the resumption of negotiations between Washington and Tehran towards a 'comprehensive and permanent agreement.' This would alleviate all concerns and enhance regional security and stability.

The statement was made following a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Omani counterpart, Badr al-Busaidi, against the backdrop of Trump’s threats. The US President has warned of strikes on Oman if it signs a separate agreement with Iran.
