Russia Has Already Begun Fuel Imports, Says Novak
Russia has started importing fuel with the aim of stabilizing the situation in the energy market. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in a comment to "Vesti."
"The import has already begun," noted the deputy prime minister. According to him, the government has also adopted the necessary regulatory legal acts that allow for the release of lower grade fuel. The measure pertains to gasoline and diesel fuel meeting Euro-2, Euro-3, and Euro-4 standards.
Fuel supply issues at gas stations in Russia began in late May due to attacks on oil refineries by the Ukrainian armed forces. This led to price increases and shortages of fuel at gas stations.
At the end of June, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that Russia was negotiating fuel imports from other countries. In July, the Russian Ministry of Energy instructed to determine suppliers and develop fuel supply schemes.
