In Ankara, the U.S. ambassador and special representative for Syria, Tom Barak, announced that Israel did not notify Turkey in advance about the strikes on the Abu Zuhur military airbase located in northern Syria. According to the ambassador, Israeli fighter jets were spotted in northern Syria, near the Turkish border, but due to an 'overall prudent approach', it was possible to avoid further escalation of the situation.

Barak emphasized that the incident underscores the necessity for direct communication and a mechanism to prevent clashes between Turkey, Israel, and Syria. Currently, Washington is actively working on the establishment of a similar mechanism to avert potential misunderstandings in the future and to reduce tensions in the region.

According to the ambassador, Israel's actions may have been motivated by the perception that Turkey was preparing to increase its military presence in the region. It should be noted that the Israeli air force carried out 8 strikes on the abandoned Abu Zuhur military airbase located in eastern Idlib. Targets included the runway and another structure. There have been no reports of casualties or injuries.
