There is a mutual understanding regarding the TRIPP project between Armenia and Iran, and the existing tensions in Iran-US relations, according to Armenian MP Sargis Khandanyan, will not hinder the implementation of the project.

Khandanyan stated during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly that it is in Armenia's interest to establish peace in the region as quickly as possible.

"There is a mutual understanding regarding TRIPP between Armenia and Iran, and I do not believe that anyone should be concerned that the tense relations between Iran and the US will affect the implementation of this project," the MP said.

"Regarding Iran-US relations, of course, we are interested in establishing peace as soon as possible, and we were greatly encouraged by the negotiations and agreements that took place a few months ago between Iran and the United States, as it seemed there was a plan for peace. Let us hope that this plan will be realized," Khandanyan noted.

Referring to the construction of the railway planned within the TRIPP framework, the MP stated that its implementation does not depend on Iran-US relations. "The railway issue is on the agenda. Currently, the terrain is being studied for feasibility, and when the studies and technical inspections are completed, construction will begin. I do not see any political obstacles here," he said.

Khandanyan emphasized that necessary studies and technical inspections are being conducted at present, and it is planned to proceed to the construction phase of the railway after their completion.
