If Gas Prices Rise, We Will Discuss It Friendly with Russia, Khandanyan
If the issue of rising gas prices arises, the authorities of Armenia will discuss it amicably with Russia. This was stated by the deputy of the ruling party, Sargis Khandanyan, during a conversation with journalists.
According to him, he does not have information on what discussions have taken place recently with Russia regarding gas prices and is not familiar with any statements that would suggest that the gas price could change.
“I do not know when the conversation about gas with Russia took place and I am not aware of any statement that serves as a basis for suggesting that the gas price could change,” Khandanyan stated.
At the same time, the deputy emphasized that if such an issue arises, the Armenian side will discuss it with its Russian partners.
“However, diversification is important in this matter. If I am not mistaken, we will work in that direction with Iran. The TRIPP project also relates to the gas pipeline, meaning that within the framework of TRIPP, a gas pipeline will pass through Armenia. Of course, this is a very theoretical idea now, but it is not difficult to implement in practice,” he mentioned.
Khandanyan also referred to the TRIPP program, noting that its implementation is already at a practical stage. “The implementation of TRIPP is at a practical stage, you know that a relevant financial foundation has been established in the United States, which will finance the project, and financial resources are already being accumulated,” the deputy reported.
He added that a study of the project's feasibility is also currently being conducted. “I have high hopes that we will proceed to the construction of the railway as quickly as possible,” Khandanyan expressed.
He also mentioned that there is interest in the swift construction of power lines, emphasizing that TRIPP is not only a railway project but also a broader infrastructure program. “TRIPP was not only a railway but also a program for other infrastructures,” he noted.
