European Union Attempts to Divide EAEU Member States: Russian Foreign Ministry
The European Union is attempting to divide the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin in an interview with Izvestia.
He also mentioned that in the future, several countries may be granted observer status within the EAEU. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that observer status does not impose any obligations on either side.
"The European Union is indeed making efforts on various platforms to divide us and pull us apart. This is a fact. European emissaries visit individual countries, participate in group meetings to advertise and promise things that will likely never be fulfilled by them," said Pankin.
It was previously announced that an agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between the EAEU and the United Arab Emirates will come into force on October 6, 2026. It is expected to contribute to an increase in trade turnover and the implementation of joint investment projects between EAEU member states and the UAE.
