The United States has doubled the funding for the TRIPP+ entrepreneurial fund from $201 million to $402 million. This information was presented by the official spending repository of the US government (USAspending.gov), indicating that Armenia is designated as the primary beneficiary for the use of these funds.

According to the data, the funding is associated with the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative, which aims to develop a transportation route running through southern Armenia to connect the South Caucasus to the Trans-Caspian transport corridor.

The published data reveals that the US Department of State's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs awarded a $201 million grant to the TRIPP+Enterprise Fund on January 30, 2026, with the implementation deadline set until December 31, 2036. A modification made on July 16 increased the funding obligation to $402 million, without changing the project's completion deadline.

The TRIPP+Enterprise Fund was established on January 26, 2026, just two weeks after a meeting in Washington between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. At the end of the meeting, both parties released a document announcing their intention to establish a company responsible for the development and implementation of infrastructure for the TRIPP route through southern Armenia, known as the TRIPP Development Company. The Republic of Armenia will hold a 26% stake in the company, while the US will own 74%.

TRIPP+Enterprise Fund and TRIPP Development Company are distinct entities; the latter is intended to focus on the development and implementation of the infrastructure project running through southern Armenia. The TRIPP Development Company will operate under the auspices of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

In contrast to the development company, the TRIPP+Enterprise Fund was created as a separate investment fund, with businessman Konstantin Sokolov being appointed as its head. According to sources, the fund is also represented under the name Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund in the official database of registered companies in Delaware.

The increase in financing from the US comes at a time when Washington is looking to expand its engagement in the South Caucasus, focusing on the development of transport and economic ties, as well as promoting projects connecting the region to the Trans-Caspian corridor.

Proponents of the initiative assert that the implementation of the TRIPP route could impact not only regional trade and logistics but also the strategic landscape of the South Caucasus.
