Netanyahu Talks About His Intentions
Benjamin Netanyahu has announced his intention to completely abandon the military funding provided by the United States over the next decade. According to the Israeli Prime Minister, the country should gradually cease receiving military aid from the U.S. during the next ten years. He stated this in an interview with CBS News.
“I want to bring American financial support to zero, the financial component of our military cooperation. Because we receive $3.8 billion annually. And I believe the time has come to gradually refuse the remaining military assistance,” Netanyahu said.
On the timing of the process, the Prime Minister clarified that he plans to implement this within the next ten years and intends to start the process right now.
The channel notes that Netanyahu is well aware of the decline in support for Israel in the U.S. According to recent polls, 60% of American adults have a negative view of Israel. This figure has increased by about 20 points over the past four years.
