CEC Issues Statement
The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia declared the registrations of eight candidates for deputy as invalid during an extraordinary meeting on May 11.
The candidates who submitted applications for self-withdrawal from the electoral list of the "REPUBLIC" party include Arthur Ashoti Babayan, Gevorg Henrikovich Hovhannisyan, Hakob Restaki Terjanian, Henrik Karenovich Karapetyan, and Van Andraniki Harutyunyan. From the electoral list of the ALL ARMENIAN NATIONAL PARTY, the candidate Hayk Arkadi Avagyan also submitted a self-withdrawal application, along with Svetlana Gumedini Gorginyan and Hakob Roberti Charoyan from the alliance "STRONG ARMENIA."
Some applications for self-withdrawal have been notarized as per the law, while those that were not notarized saw the applicants present their cases at the CEC meeting.
According to the constitutional law “Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia,” candidates for deputy have the right to withdraw their candidacy no later than 10 days before the voting day by 18:00 and also, if applying after the voting day, to withdraw their candidacy thereafter.
