US Military to Use Hypersonic Missiles Against Iran: Bloomberg
The US Central Command has approached the Pentagon with a request to deploy Dark Eagle systems in the region. According to information provided by Bloomberg, this move is necessitated by the need to counter potential threats from Iran. If the request is granted, it would mark the first practical deployment of hypersonic weapons by the United States in a combat zone.
Military officials justify the need for such armaments by stating that Iran has relocated its missile launch sites to new locations. The currently deployed Precision Strike Missile, with a range of approximately 482 kilometers, is no longer able to reach these targets. The Dark Eagle systems would allow for strikes at targets from significantly greater distances and at high speeds.
Despite the request submission, a final decision has not yet been made in Washington. Sources indicate that there are no specific timelines for the actual use or deployment of hypersonic weapons, as the process is still in the discussion phase. The American side is currently assessing regional security risks and the strategic significance of implementing such technologies.
