Alen Simonian Appeals to Court Demanding Apology from Mikayel Margaryan
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, has approached the court demanding that Mikayel Margaryan publicly apologize and pay 1 dram for defamation. The case has been assigned to Judge Ani Atanesyan of the Yerevan Civil Court. According to Auroranews, Simonian's lawsuit requests:
That the defendant, Mikayel Yuri Margaryan, be obliged to publicly apologize to the plaintiff, Alen Simonian, in the following manner: to post a statement on the personal page of the defendant on the social networking site Facebook in a way accessible and visible to all for at least fifteen working days or, if impossible, in print media with a circulation of at least five thousand copies. The title of the statement should read: 'I, Mikayel Margaryan, apologize to Alen Simonian,' and the content should include: 'On 26.03.2026, I made statements regarding Alen Simonian near the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, for which I apologize to Mr. Simonian.'
To collect from the defendant, Mikayel Yuri Margaryan, in favor of the plaintiff, Alen Robert Simonian, the amount of 1 (one) Armenian dram as compensation for defamation.
To collect from the defendant, Mikayel Yuri Margaryan, in favor of the plaintiff, Alen Robert Simonian, a total of 506,000 (five hundred and six thousand) Armenian drams for court expenses, of which 480,000 (four hundred and eighty thousand) drams is the attorney’s fee, and 26,000 (twenty-six thousand) drams is the state duty amount.
