French Sergeant Killed in Lebanon, Macron Calls for Investigation
A sergeant from the 17th Parachute Engineering Regiment of the French Army, Florian Montorion, was killed this morning in southern Lebanon during an attack on a United Nations peacekeeping mission (UN Interim Force in Lebanon). French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the incident.
“Three of his fellow soldiers were injured and evacuated. The nation bows in respect and offers its support to the families of our soldiers and to all servicemen participating in maintaining peace in Lebanon. All indications point to Hezbollah being responsible for this attack. France demands that Lebanese authorities immediately arrest those responsible and hold them accountable alongside the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon,” Macron stated.
