Iran's Foreign Minister's Harsh Criticism of the United States
Iran's Islamic Republic finds any option for a temporary ceasefire with the United States unacceptable. This stance was expressed by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Said Khatibzade during the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
According to the official, short-term agreements are an ineffective waste of diplomatic resources that lead to the resumption of military operations, which is unacceptable for Tehran.
Discussing the regional situation, the Iranian official emphasized that the key goal of ongoing communications involving mediators is to achieve a fundamental solution to the problem. Khatibzade described the current situation as aggression carried out by the U.S. and Israel, which harms Iran's and the entire region's economic interests. He added that Washington is responsible for the created circumstances.
It should be noted that after the military operations initiated by the United States and Israel on February 28, which targeted Tehran and other major cities, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responded with retaliatory strikes against Israel and American facilities in Arab countries.
On April 11, negotiations between Iran's parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in Islamabad yielded no results due to the deep disagreements between the parties.
