Iran Reaches Consensus on Supreme Leader Selection
The Assembly of Experts has reached a consensus regarding the selection of Iran's Supreme Leader, announced member Mohammad-Mehdi Mirbagheri, according to RIA Novosti.
“The honorable members of the Assembly of Experts have been working hard in recent days to come to a definitive position on the Supreme Leader issue, and they have not failed. Thank God, a firm and unanimous opinion has emerged, representing the viewpoint of the majority,” Mirbagheri's words were cited by the Mehr news agency.
However, Mirbagheri also noted that there are still some obstacles that need to be resolved.
Earlier, Assembly member Ahmad Khatami stated that they have narrowed down the possible candidates for the position of Supreme Leader and are close to finalizing the selection of Ali Khamenei's successor at the first possible opportunity, but he also emphasized the current state of military alert.
